Slippery Slopefestivus: Switchbacks Race Jan. 10th, 11am (FINAL DATE SET!)

The season is upon us... happy Slopefestivus to all

I've been working with JP from Rip City Skate for the past week or so on getting together an event at Switchbacks the 10th (RACE BEGINS AT 11... show up a bit early). So far the stoke for this has been mounting pretty fast and today Longboard Larry, Northwest Riders Clothing Co. and Eastside Longboards have been brought on board to help sponsor the event by donating whatever they can.

I'm hoping to add an element of holiday giving to this event and have the proceeds from a raffle of all the shwag we are getting donated to benefit Stoked Mentoring. Stoked is an awesome group that helps underprivileged and at-risk teens in LA and New York by pairing them with 3 mentors to learn how to Snowboard, Skate, and Surf throughout the course of a year. The idea being that by going through the learning process of a board sport we all learn the skills of perseverance and dedication that can be used in many other aspects of our lives.

There will be a $8 entry fee to race and half the fee will be donated to Stoked, helmets will be required, pads mildly suggested as we're hoping for rain but may receive shine. Spread the word, the stoke and the holiday skate and we all hope to see you on the 10th.

I'm working on talking with a few other companies and maybe will be able to get some Concrete Wave or Silverfish coverage of the event! Anyone else interested in sponsoring or donating to the event, helping to get their companies name out there please feel free to shoot me an email. This is a chance to shred, help promote your favorite companies and the local stoke.

Podium prizes are still in the works however there will be cash prizes for 1-3rd as well as a gift certificate from Northwest Riders Clothing Co... more to come on the prize area on Monday when the sponsors are back in the office.

do it on the 10th! otherwise i'll need a place to crash friday night (the 8th) since our dorms don't open till the 9th.

I say the 10th as well...Sundays are better!
