Double Event Day in Salem

Format for Walk That Plank!

Disciplines: Freestyle/Dancing (note that you are not required to perform any dancing tricks for this contest but you do have to bust badass old school tricks of your choosing). Impress the judges with your best old school tricks. Contestants will be judged on their style, the flow of their routines, and difficulty of tricks.

Events:
Downhill freestyle: Contestants will have three single runs down the declined part of the hill. Contestants will keep the best of their three scores.

Flat ground Freestyle: Contestants will have three one minute runs, keeping their best score from the judges.

High Jump: We will have a hippie jump bar. Contestants will have three attempts at jumps keeping their highest jump.

Best trick: Contestants will have three attempts at calling and then performing their trick for the judges. They will keep their best score.

Each contestant’s scores will be added together and then winners will be named.

PS. This race caused some confusion and It Will Not be a high speed slope style event. But Salem will be having a slope style event later this summer along with a downhill race the same day. The slope style hill will be 45+ and crazy as hell. The downhill race is still being worked on though. I will keep you posted.


BBQ

We will have a BBQ after walk that plank at the park. I will be putting the BBQ together and it will cost 5 bucks. Please post on pdxdownhill.com under this race if you are going to be attending the BBQ. If you don’t post I WILL NOT HAVE FOOD FOR YOU!

After The BBQ we will be moving to the Construction zone for the next race. We will have cars to shuttle you from the park to the next race.



Construction Zone: Battle for Box Canyon

Format of the race: 4 man bracket racing. This course will be longer than we usual and we will have spotters on the corners.

All skill levels are welcome. This is a good first race for beginners and for people who are looking to get into downhill but don't want a super hard race course. If you want to check the track out here is a link of LBL and some locals skating it. http://www.longboardlarryblog.com/ Also we will be continuing down the straight at the end where they stop in the video. There is a 90degree turn at the bottom of the next hill that we will take. The finish line will be right after that. And we will start at the top of the first hill, I think they are starting a little above half way in the video. So expect longer and faster than what you see in the video. I am trying to plan a double race day every month in Salem from June to September. The races will be getting more difficult as they go. Hopefully we will also have a point system going like PDXdownhill.com (that is still in the works). So keep an eye out for more info. This is going to be a great summer!

yes i will be at the DH race for sure! I cant dance, let alone on a board going down a hill. This is going to be a fun day

Oh you should, you only live once... Even if you decide not to 'dance', you'll be out gas money at the most, come one!

yes you can do any trick you wish! This is more a freestyle event on big boards than straight up dancing competition. But I am adding a deck requirement of being at least 35in long and soft wheels no harder than 86a. I am hoping this event will get people to stat to push the limits with big boards and technical tricks. I am actually working on changing the poster right now and it will be up tonight. Oh and the construction zone battle for box canyon will be the next PDX downhill race. Thats right its worth points baby! (working on this poster too)
