Re: Vancouver Vixen II
The Vixen is back and she's here to steal away your heart and lungs. The Vixen is a classy lady even if she does ride a kids bike with a flat back tire. She'll trade away her love for a carton of smokes, but in the end she'll still be in the kitchen frying up some dough in bacon grease for ya.
The course will be the same as last time with the starting and finishing point at the parking lot on NE 65th and NE 18th in Vancouver. It's around 13.5 miles with some mixed uphill, downhill and flatland pushing. You will be traveling on the Discovery Trail from near it's starting point to the halfway point at Fruit Valley Road and back. It is a bike path SO PEDESTRIANS GET THE RIGHT OF WAY! Placing one spot higher on the roster is not worth knocking down an innocent (or not) bystander.
The course is smooth on most parts, will be nice and clean this time of year and is very scenic. Be at the starting line at 9am for signup and registration. There's no entry fee and prizes will be awarded as a raffle and not by placement so everyone gets a chance to win the big stuff.
Helmets are recommended.
---BONUS-----
Since the race is on my 40th B-day we're having a knock out-throw down party at my house which is only a half mile or so from the course the night before. Those of you WHO ARE OF DRINKING AGE, will be encouraged to come party down and crash out up here so you won't have to travel the morning of the race. We got space for tents and I'll whip up some locally raised eggs before the race. If there's anything left in the keg, we'll finish her off after we're done. If your under 21, forget about it.
e-mail me if you would like to come up for the party so I know what to expect:

Re: Vancouver Vixen II
Hey guys, I'm new here. I'm also fairly new to the pacific northwest - I'm a transplant from the midwest for the summer, working at a skate park up here in Poulsbo, west of Seattle (across the water).
Is there anyone from this area planning to attend the Vancouver Vixen II that would be willing to let me catch a ride? I'm interested in coming but have no car (flew in from the windy city)
If you can help out, reply on here or email me at metzger(dot)peter(at)gmail(dot)com
thanks!

Re: Vancouver Vixen II
You might consider hopping the Amtrak for the race if you can't find a ride. There's a station right here in Vancouver. You would have a place to stay at least for Friday night (if your over 21)
Someone's going to be taking this skull home from One World Merchants after the race, get on the board guys, there's two more sponsors then riders signed up right now.

So... I have no idea what I was thinking. I'm going to be back in Indiana at school way before then! Maybe I was thinking August 13 for some reason? Oh well! Have fun

Here's a google map of the starting lot.

If you come off of hwy500 go south on Andressen and west on ne 18th st, at the intersection of ne 65th ave and 18th 65th turns into a dirt lot. We'll register there and walk into the starting line.
Call me if you get lost

VIXEN RESULTS
I have no idea how to post this over at the new NCDSA, so here's the results from yesterday. If I get your name wrong I'm going off the sign up sheet so it's probably your fault.
1. Robin McGuirk
2. Will Story
3. Jess Gulliot
4. Chris Shuttleworth
5. Marshall Atwood
6. Dustin Boyd
7. Erikson Kolberg
8. Scott Essin
9. Eric Hovey
10. Nathaniel Schmidt
11. Cory Poole
12. JP Rowan
13. Jaden Chavez
14. Josh McCormick
15. Geno Hill
16. Chris Stevens
17. Casey Morrow
18. Addison
19. Sam Shimazack
20. Chase Clausen
21. Brandon Lanwehr
22. Greg Muir
23. Chris DeGarmo
24. Kevin Peterson
25. Jake Muir
26. Gerry Oppliger
27. AJ Burngardt
28. Tim Laidlaw
29. Tad Onchi
30. Kenton Hill
I believe we had 3 father and son teams in this race, so that's a new record. I'd like to thank our sponsors:
Eastside Longboards
Eskimo Boards
Bad Monkey Skates and Bike
Rip City Skates
One World Merchants
Northwest Shirts
The feedback was positive so we'll probably do it again next year, although I doubt we'll do another winter race on the course. Casey found a detour around the crappy powerline trail so we'll use that next time.

ah man, last years was easily the most entertaining and grueling push race to date, ya gotta do it in the winter again, especially since i had to sit out of this one.
