Tri-Cities Downhill Race
Tri-Cities Downhill Race
We're starting to plan for Saturday, August 1st 2009. Not sure on any of the other details yet I just wanted to get the date out there and let you guys know its going to happen again.
Format still isn't finalized or anything.
We are going to try to go official this year. If that happens we'll probably just stick to the 2nd hill we did last year. That one with the hard lefty then the righty and we'll add another right at the bottom and have a finish line just after that.
If we can't get the official stuff together, we'll have ourselves an outlaw.
More details as soon as I get some details sorted out.
Thanks
Noah
PS does anyone know why I can't post here through Safari? None of the text shows up after I click send or preview...

Sounds sick, I'll add it to the calendar. https://pdxdownhill.darkbb.com/calendar.forum
You sure you want us to try and survive mid-summer temperatures again? I've never gotten sunburned that bad in my life, and I think Deano and Tad almost died from heat stroke, hahaha.

Well hopefully you guys can tough it out and I'll plan for it and try to consider the heat and figure out ways to keep people cooled off. Especially if we get it official this time we'll get some tents and shades set up with water (sunscreen maybe) etc. I'd go for later in the year but I'll be full time in school so i'm not sure if i could make it happen.

Best course preview I've seen! Nice work...but who's the MORON bombing without a helmet?
I'm definitely gonna make it out for this race.

Good to hear you're coming again Huey. Although sometimes I feel you should be banned to only taking amazing photosHovey wrote:Best course preview I've seen! Nice work...but who's the MORON bombing without a helmet?

I should have an update, on our progress organizing this by Monday. Resident approval for the street closure permit is at the top of the list, and there should be a few volunteers going door to door in the area this Saturday. So far the city is very helpful and positive about the event happening.
Moron bombing without a helmet would be my friend Zac. He's slowly coming around to wearing his helmet more often...

that was hovey that said that;
although they both take good pictures.
hope zac gets around to wearing his helmet, or he will be speaking slowly.

Re: Tri-Cities Downhill Race
haha, opps huey/hovey pretty close.
and yes you're right they both take sick pictures.
Oh and we're now planning on donating any profit from entry fees to the Wishing Star Foundation. Not only is it a great thing to support, it may also help us get resident approval. People may feel pretty guilty if they're not willing to be delayed a few moments to help some sick child get his dream. My friend Greg is going to speak to residents tomorrow. My mom might go help him out and maybe a few other friends in town. Wish them luck.

Convince you?
Let's see. There are only so many official races each year. Although there are more events each year I can only name 2 official events that would be closer to Portland. Cathlamet and maryhill are the only ones I know of. Last year we had 18 riders at my outlaw. Only 3 were locals. Deano came from Spokane. Tad and Shane drove over from Seattle! Casey and friends came from Portland. Some guys came from salem. All this travel time for a 1 day outlaw. An outlaw organized by me. I had never been to any race before. None of them had seen even seen the hills. We could have been busted by the cops first run. Yet everyone made the trip and I'm pretty sure everyone had a blast.
This years event is legal. No worry of the police shutting it down. You've seen a preview video and anyone from last years outlaw can vouch for it. There will be hay to crash into. Lots more prizes. It's for a great cause. The event will focus on skating as much as possible not qualifying and making the podiums.
Don't say it's so far away and then let the canadians make a much longer trip to come try to sweep the podium!!!
Need any more convincing?
Thanks
Noah

Hotel Deal!
Hey everyone. More registrations are starting to come in and the final details are falling into place. Just to make sure you guys know, you can register at the event and the $90 price is only good for 5 more days, then it goes up to $100.
I just secured a deal with the Quality Inn 3 miles from the race course. We have some rooms that will be held until the 24th. They're giving them to us for $89 instead of $109. There's also a pool. Check out the lodging page of the event website http://www.tcdownhill.com/TriCityDownhill09/Lodging.html

Re: Tri-Cities Downhill Race
We're signed up and took advantage of the sweet hotel discount too. For a legit closed course race it seems like a good price to me. Addison gets some practice and I don't have to chew my nails.
Re: Tri-Cities Downhill Race
good to see some more sign ups coming in. there's only about 7 hours left on the $90 price then it goes up to the regular $100 so sign up fast and save a little money.
Thanks
