2009 outlaw series?
after going to the outlaw races in salem and portland this weekend, i realized that we could easily pull off a race a month and make a series out of it. all we need to do is pick the roads, pick the dates, get the people and do the damn thing.
here's a little list of hills so far:
rocky butte, rock creek, salem's gibson dh, mcgnarlee, 65th, tabor.... maybe more to come.

Re: 2009 outlaw series?
that sounds like an awesome idea and one i'd definitely like to see happen. the more local races the better.
by series, are you talking like a rogue igsa kinda thing? with points for races and a championship at the end? or just a series of races? hehe.
either way, will take a lot of organization but i think it would be well worth it in the end.

well, I definately have the "Clark Co. Outlaw" on hold, still have to organize it a little more.
I think even for some races an igsa sanction would be possible, like the salem race.

Sounds like a solid idea Billy, Definitely the earlier we nail down dates the better. The outlaw series would be a great way to grow the local scene even more and give a chance to race for all the people that can't afford the gas to Canada or California for all those races. I think 60th in Washington would be an awesome race! Should be able to get a solid 5 races in at least? I wouldn't mind taking on organizing one of them.

For sure, JP and I keep talking about that, actually most of the way back from Gibson we did, hahaha. Definitely a good one for next year will be switchbacks at Zoobomb.

Just to get things in motion and make decisions, Let's do the same thing we did this weekend for next year. DOUBLE RACE WEEKEND JULY 25th/26th, 2009!! I haven't talked to Casey yet but let's do it!! I'd gladly do another race too. I'm scouting and trying to find something for September of even this year that may come into play next year.
Just start picking dates cause we need to get it on Calendars before other small races. Definitely avoid conflict with the big Canada Races though. Danger Bay, Vernon, Sullivan, and count Maryhill too.

Definitely David, we'll have to see what we can figure out about getting them legal.

Re: 2009 outlaw series?
I just woke up from an after-work nap and I had the craziest dream that started out with me reading a post Kevin put up with directions to that nursery, and then I went there and drove to the top and some old guy was trying to sell me a $300 massage at his house at the top of the road. I was almost convinced. I must be easily persuaded in dreams because then he convinced me that his roof was high enough in elevation that you could see the stars during the day so I had to walk through his house to get up there and he had two kids and one of them was doing ollies off the second story balcony into their yard and I had to stop and watch the future of big hammers in street. It did turn out you could see the stars from his roof, and also a really good view of Gnos Road. Somehow the guy ended up getting really sketchy and I got my hands on some sort of machine gun that was buried in the snow on his roof (?!) and blew a bunch of holes in the dude. The point is, I'm a little worried about this nursery bomb... As good and life-changing as that massage sounded, I don't think it could have been worth $300.

Re: 2009 outlaw series?
wow, that was one seriously prophetic dream. Are you sure it doesn't mean that we should have the race? We just need to make sure we bring our machine guns in case we have to blast our way out of the situation.

Wow, how much psychodelic help did you have before that dream?! Wait, never mind, forget I asked! Btw, do you work for PDX parks & rec or THPRD?
Re: 2009 outlaw series?
Hahaha, well you know, Terrence Mckenna claims "if you've ever had it, even just once, then, you can have a dream, and in this dream, someone will pull out a little glass pipe, and then, it will happen. It will happen just like the real thing. Because there's a button somewhere inside each and every one one of us that gives you a look into the other side." Hahaha, I love that crazy dude. THPRD is a drug-free workplace.

i think what the californians have going on this year is pretty rad. with a point system that can determine who is the over champ for the year. just another thing to throw into the mix. it's especially fun when you save money all year and give it to the top 4.

There are still workplaces where drugs are allowed? Or do you mean thprd has drugs for free? ;) I was just giving you crap, ignore me!Leviathan wrote: THPRD is a drug-free workplace.
Back to the subject of the thread, if ya'll need any help with permit applications or drafting argumentative letters I'd be happy to help. If you are thinking of McNamee (sp?), that one might be tricky since I have a feeling you'd have to go through Washington County instead of Portland.
Did you ever figure out who called the sheriff?

i used to be big into tournament paintball. and that's kind of the way they had things set up, but on a regional level. we would go play tournaments in California and Vegas and all over building points toward the end of the year. it was a really awesome setup because it was almost impossible for a team to get far enough out in front not to have to really play hard to win in the end. we also ran each tournament on points as well, which made it so everyone could play all day. which i think would be really cool after getting knocked out in the first round at gibson haha.

Re: 2009 outlaw series?
I think a Northwest Division separate from the Cali DH series would be awesome. Not even 2 years ago the Cali races were maybe 5 total. Am I wrong?? And this year it just stepped up a bunch...like 9 races or more. We can definitely have a series with a couple in Oregon, a few in Washington, maybe there's some crazy bomber in Idaho wanting to put on a race?? I'll start talking to the IGSA guys.
