Re: Maryhill Festival of Speed
This just announced on FACEBOOK by Marcus Rietma (IGSA)
Due to the overwhelming response from athletes who were unable to register for the Maryhill “Festival of Speed”, the event organizers are adding 37 more athletes to the Downhill Skateboarding Class.
Volcanic Promotions Owner John Ozman said, “When registration opened up on June 2nd it was literally crazy. Downhill Skateboarding sold out in less than 7 hours. There were so many athletes trying to register at the same time it crashed the server at EROI. EROI is an online event registration company with many years of experience and their server had never crashed before!”
“We had to make some decisions on how to get more Downhill Skateboarders in the event so the number of athletes in other disciplines were cut. The total number of athletes in the event was also raised to 210. It was a tough decision to go over 200 racers, but after discussions with IGSA we feel we can handle it,” said Ozman.
***156 Downhill Skateboarders will be practicing and qualifying over four days. Qualifying will be very important, since only the 96 fastest qualifiers will be racing. That means 61 racers will be watching from the side lines on Sunday.***
Athletes who are in the top 37 of the “Reserve List” will be receiving emails on Monday June 16, 2008. These athletes will have a deadline to register by June 20, 2008 or their spot will be given to the next person on the “Reserve List”.
“We wish we could accommodate all the athletes that wanted to register. Next year we will need to look at what can be done. Many event organizers have begun limiting the numbers of athletes at their events. 200 racers is about the most any event can handle” Ozman said. “It’s at a point where IGSA Points will become the determining factor. Those who finish in the top of the points this year will get Priority Registration in 2009.”
Volcanic Promotions is a gravity sports event production company serving the Pacific Northwest. The Maryhill “Festival of Speed” IGSA World Championships will be held on Aug, 27 – 31, 2008 at the world famous Maryhill Loops Road in Goldendale, WA. USA.

Hey,
Does anyone have space in their car for two other people? Me and a friend are flying in from Texas and hoping to get in on a carpool if anyones down. We'll throw in gas money and can pack as light as necessary.
Thanks,
Tommy

Hitchhiking's not hard off I-84, it'll probably be really hot and you might want to save some energy.

Cool, I hope so. I'm not actually excited about the prospect of that long of a skate in August.

Re: Maryhill Festival of Speed
Yeah skating would be ridiculous along 84, not to mention getting taken out by a passing truck, the heat and gravel. Listen to Casey, he's the master of hitchhiking!

The tickets they are referring to are their PLANE tickets from Texas. Watching at Maryhill is free.

Hey, I just got referred over here from silverfish. My plane gets into PDX at 6:20 PM on the 26th. Is there anyone who could give me a ride to maryhill then? I would of course pay for gas. Email me at Rubmichael@gmail.com. Thanks!

Re: Maryhill Festival of Speed
It looks like billy_the_kid was the only one who had room, and he's leaving "EARLY" on the 26th. I might be wrong though.
