Burning Bowls in the great mid-west
I went to the only concrete bowl in Kansas city the other day for a good skate. I had been there the day before and had been unable to skate because of the thick ice covering most of the bowl. I was hopefull as I aproached as I could see people standing around the bowl and dropping in. There was ice in two of the three compartments but it was still useable. After a short time a fellow says " Hey I got some gas. You think that would dry up that ice?" To which someone replies " Ya man! Fire will work for sure" Next I know someone has climbed in the bowl with a gas can and flames are starting to rise from the ice patches. The skaters rejoice! ..... The ice is now melting and spreading rivers of flame and water to the rest of the bowl and thick black clouds of smoke are pouring into the cold blue sky. Skaters stop rejoicing. A couple of runs were made around the flames before everyone ran from the park to avoid trouble. In the long flat plains of the mid-west the thick black plume could be seen for miles.

That's what I wondered. I know you are following interesting things as they come along, but come on - it's warmer in mexico now!
Seriously, hope you are still enjoying your adventure. Merry x-mas.
